We are looking for a KS2 teacher (especially of pupils aged 9-10) to deliver a two-hour morning session to their class using Media Smart’s body image and advertising resource.

The session will be attended by three representatives from Media Smart and the Advertising Association, who are eager to see the resources in action and find out more about how a pupils engage with the topic. The resource, accredited by the PSHE association, uses discussion tasks, film, and real-world advertising examples across two one-hour lessons to support the teaching of body image in the PSHE curriculum. The lessons will help pupils understand the purpose of a range of adverts and the effect that media and advertising can have on how we feel about ourselves and our bodies.

We are looking for a school in the West Susses/ Midhurst/ Haslemere area to host the session. We would like to schedule a morning slot in the first half of the summer term, ideally the beginning to mid-May, with the briefing process completed before the Easter holidays.

Before the day, you will have the chance to speak to us and the PSHE experts behind the resources to ensure you feel confident in your knowledge of the topic and the Media Smart resources. Photographs will be taken on the day of the class in action and local media may wish to attend part of the session, so we will also provide support, as required, in establishing media permissions.

After the session you will of course also have the opportunity to speak to the representatives from Media Smart and the Advertising Association to find out more about their work.

We are able to provide a fee of £100 for the teacher delivering the session.

If you are interested it would be great to know some more about your school and your interest in PSHE, including any prior learning on the topic of body image with your pupils and whether you have previously used any Media Smart resources.

We hope to hear from you soon!
